Fantasizing about the next holiday abroad

I haven't been on holiday abroad for six years now. I had been busy on business trips and work, and after that corona has swept the world.

Although it is possible to travel overseas, the biggest bottleneck is the PCR negative proof within 72 hours before departure from the destination. If it is positive, you will not be able to board the plane and you will get stuck in the field.

Even if you are lucky to return home with a negative, you cannot use public transportation from the airport to your home. Driving a rental car after a long flight would be exhausting.

At the moment, it's just a rice cake drawn in a picture, but since I have plenty of time, I started reading the guidebooks in case the situation changes.

I have already visited almost all places where I wanted to go, but I haven't had a chance to visit Tahiti and the Maldives and would like to go there.

I quickly checked the flight between Tokyo and Bora Bora Island, googling with "tyo bob." Surprisingly, there are no direct flights to Tahiti, and the shortest route is via San Francisco. Even in economy class, it costs more than 1 million yen ($10,000.)

This is no good...

Next, search for Maldives. The flight is about 100,000 yen ($1,000) via Singapore. The Maldives is dotted with many small islands, and the style of one hotel on one island makes it more resort-like.

After perusing the guidebook and TripAdvisor reviews, I loved Outrigger Konotta Maldives Resort.

However, it seems that the management changed at the end of last year, and there have been no guest reviews since then.

As a more serious problem, there are many people infected with corona in the country, so after returning to Japan, it is necessary to be quarantined at the hotel prepared by the quarantine station director.

Theoretically, it is not impossible to go, but considering the possibility of getting stuck in the destination and other hurdles, I don't want to go at the risk of my life.

This was an unimaginable situation until just two years ago. I'm glad I had been studying and travelling abroad while I could.
