Review: MET Opera movie "La Traviata" 2018/19 season

This weekend I saw a movie that filmed an opera "La Traviata" of 2018/19 season on December 15, 2018 at the Metropolitan Opera (MET) in New York.

The passionate performance was awesome and brought deep emotional moisture to my heart which was dried up by day-to-day busy life. It even penetrated the less than average venue Togeki movie theater in Ginza, Tokyo. The sound effect was unfortunately so bad and worse than most movie theaters in Japan. Moreover, it was too old and smelled a bit moldy. I personally do not recommend this place for a date.

Ironically, the better the performance was, the worse I regret I could not go see a live one. That is, a MET live opera is, in my view, so impressive and even surpasses the Grand Canyon for its experience. The entire aura is created by both the performers and the audience, including such details as sparkling jewelry on their finger. That is very special and something that a movie is not able to convey.

Regarding the story, all the main characters except for Violetta looked hypocritical. Alfredo did not deny her last words "On the day you get married with a young lady..." while he claimed a true love with her. As such, this classic masterpiece might tell the truth that there is no such thing as a true love between a man and a woman...
