Movie Review: Page Eight

For the first time in a long time, I could finish seeing a movie. If you like a slim, slightly old and soft-voiced chap in the habit of clever conversations that somewhat outsmart colleagues, you would probably enjoy it.

The main character Johnny is an MI5 officer closely connected with his boss in their Cambridge old boys’ network. One aspect of the movie is their turf battle with a female Minister and colleague spying each other and changing political dynamics in the reorganization of the intelligence community.

In the end Johnny whistle-blew a case on behalf of a young pretty Syrian woman next door and left the country and his job. Their intergenerational fleeting friendship is based on humanity, only slightly romantic and almost never physical, which reminded me of another movie Lost in Translation.
