The value of great physical appearance

For the first time in a long time, I was struck by an excellent looking middle-aged man. At Four Seasons Singapore’s breakfast buffet, he was taking some green leaves. It was literally a second, and he returned to his table. I intuitively thought that he might be an actor, a model or other professional that takes advantage of his great looks to make a living. He certainly had a different aura. If I dare to compare, he was in line with Gregory Peck; or a quaint version of George Clooney.

I had no time or brave to tell him “You are very handsome.” Maybe I can do that the next morning, I imagined, but no luck.

Men generally do not pay as much attention to how they look as women do. As they reach middle age or older, that is even truer. In fact, many women also come to care less about their physical appearance after a certain point.

Regardless of the gender, quite a few middle-aged people accumulate fat and that ruins great traits they might have such as a charming face. Having needless fat indicates a sense of giving up and a lack of self-control, thereby undermining the foundation of beautiful presence. Being surrounded by these people makes one numb to that notion and rest on the ugly status quo without even noticing that.

In retrospect, I sense that might have happened when I invited a serous consequence in my personal life. I used to struggle to improve my physical appearance until, say, in my early forties; but somehow later on I became quite lazy.

The fleeting encounter with the notably beautiful man has made me aware of that and decide to resume the effort to extract my best appearance.
