Say “a few” words

Next week I’ll give a speech, or two speeches. Saying “a few” words, so to speak, but often they mean hundreds of words. I imagine this idiom might come from the wishful thinking that speeches should be short, though that is not usually the case.

I value truthfulness, and in fact, I attempt to do say a few words, literally.

To be exact, I looked up a dictionary. It says “a small number of” or some say “two or three.”

Then perhaps I’ll say “thanks for everything.”
