New job, fresh start, challenging tasks

This week I started a new job. Everything is new – to begin with, username of the computer system is new; as I used the previous one for over a decade, unconsciously I type it, which of course doesn’t work and makes me feel I’m working for a new organization.

Likewise, new PCs, new printers, a new desk, a new telephone, new bosses and coworkers. They make me compare them with my previous ones. The comparison reveals a variety of aspects of both workplaces I never realized, some of which constitute the essence that dictates organizational culture and behavior. This is an incredibly fascinating discovery.

On substance, my new job requires me to deepen specialized knowledge, keep abreast of global politics and economy and collaborate with colleagues in a new dimension. I am thrilled by this challenge, and in fact, it is a bit scary.
